Adult Education hosts Lunch and Learn on the Lawn

The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education Department held a Lunch and Learn on the Lawn for GED and ESL students and instructors this week. The Adult Education Department recently relocated to the Community Resource Center (CRC) at 105 N. Riddle in Mount Pleasant (old Mount Pleasant High school and Administration Building). They plan to have a special event each month to highlight their programs and encourage student participation.

CIS kicks off Christmas Project

Communities In Schools of Northeast Texas is a non-profit organization that works with children and youth who are most in need of assistance to overcome barriers to success in education. Together with community support, CIS is able to provide services to over 3,000 students in your local area.

Construction update for Sept. 22


As you can see from the physical transformation on the plaza, the campus renovation is moving along nicely. Here is the latest:



? The Humanities Building is now fully operational and the offices are occupied.


? The new sidewalks between the Whatley Center and IT/BT buildings are open. Work will continue on landscaping that side of campus.




? Work will soon begin on the Student Services building.



Honors Northeast recognizes Drs. Jim and Paula Archer for their support

For the 10th straight year, Doctors Jim and Paula Archer hosted the annual Fall Roundup for Honors Northeast. Honors students, professors, and administrators of Northeast Texas Community College†gathered at the Archer?s Lone Star Cattle Company Ranch September 10 for the event. Dr. Andrew Yox, Honors Director (pictured right) presented the couple with a plaque commemorating some of the scenes of their interactions with students.

Dr. Jim Archer is a Professor Emeritus at NTCC, having served as chemistry professor for 25 years.

Donation supports NTCC scholarship for caregivers

The Winnsboro Community Foundation recently gave $2,000 for the Band of Angels Memorial Scholarship for Caregiving at Northeast Texas Community College. The scholarship, which was created in memory of Bobbie Craddock, will support nontraditional students training in healthcare-related fields. Sue Hamm, Craddock?s daughter, got the idea for the scholarship during the last months of her mother?s life as she saw the tireless, selfless work of the caregivers who took care of Mrs. Craddock.
