What would it feel like to sleep outside on a cold night with nothing but a blanket and a cardboard box for shelter? While most of us have never experienced it, homelessness is a reality for hundreds of thousands of Americans each day. A group of students at Northeast Texas Community College is looking to raise awareness of the growing problem of hunger and homelessness by hosting an annual overnight event called One Night In A Cardboard Box.

Texas A&M Texarkana at NTCC will host several activities to celebrate National Transfer Student Week.

For thirteen years in a row, Drs. Jim and Paula Archer have helped imbue Honors at NTCC with a unique social dynamic.  Each one of those years has begun with a roundup at their ranch south of Pittsburg, and with a day trip to the DFW metroplex, thanks to the remarkable patronage of these endeavors by the Archers.

The Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo team hit the road this past weekend and traveled to Uvalde, Texas for the second rodeo of the season hosted by Southwest Texas Junior College. Zachary McPherson and Slate Wiseman led the way for the Eagles once again. McPherson again placed in the Saddle Bronc, taking a fifth-place finish, and Wiseman finished seventh in the Steer Wrestling. In Team Roping, the Eagle team of Presley Spoonemore and Hayden White finished in fifth place to bring in additional team points for the Eagle Rodeo team.

Help me congratulate the winners of the Scare Affair candy donation competition. This is another record-breaking donation with a total of 4,480 pounds of candy! That’s truly amazing! Scare Affair would not be successful as it is each year without the dedication of NTCC Student Organizations/Clubs and the generosity of our campus and local communities.

students at fair

Three students from the NTCC Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program recently volunteered with the Chapel Hill FFA at the Titus County fair for a livestock education session. They assisted FFA members as they gave demonstrations and taught those in attendance about the animals being shown in the fair by FFA and Jr. FFA members. This is just one of many ways NTCC students serve their community. PTA student, Jordan Molton, is pictured with a group of students.
