Northeast Texas Community College welcomes Artist Marsha Brown as the exhibiting artist for February. Her artwork will be on display in the Whatley Center foyer from Friday, February 3rd through Wednesday, February 22nd. A reception will be held on Wednesday, February 8th, at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.
Marsha was born in Lindale, Texas, and has lived in Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Tennessee. She moved back home to Texas in 2003. Marsha and her husband live on a small horse ranch in Northeast Texas and share 6 horses, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. Their home is surrounded by wildlife and trees.
As a young girl, Marsha discovered her love for art using a #2 pencil and a tablet to create her drawings. Growing up in rural east Texas with limited opportunities, she did not have formal art training. However, as an adult, she began taking classes and workshops from numerous art teachers experimenting with all forms of media and styles.
Marsha has developed her realistic approach by painting animals, birds, still life, and landscapes using oils, pastels, colored pencils, and graphite. Her work has been accepted in multiple Texas art shows, as well as online art shows nationwide, and she has received several awards.
As an artist, Marsha receives much joy through painting, sharing her art with family and friends, and developing new relationships with those who share her passion for creating art. Marsha’s journey with art has been a lifelong endeavor.
