The NTCC Eagle Food Pantry announced this week that it will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-5:30 p.m. throughout the fall semester. The pantry is located in the CARE Center in IA 105.
The pantry offers an assortment of fresh, canned, and packaged foods for current NTCC students and their families. Students can access our pantry once a month by presenting their current student ID.
"Food insecurity is a very common problem among college students and we want everyone at NTCC to know this resource is available when needed. Going to college is challenging enough without worrying where your next meal will come from," Carmen Shurtleff, founder of the Eagle Food Pantry, said.
In addition to the Food Pantry, the CARE Center is also available to help alleviate basic need insecurities by providing students with resources through access to education, healthy food, advocacy and empowerment.
The CARE Center features a hygiene closet where students can get basic hygiene supplies free of charge, a "cook nook" where students can prepare their own food and they even offer scheduled wellness events and group therapy.
The Eagle Food Pantry and CARE Center are made possible by generous donors. Donations of cash, non-perishable (non-expired) food items and hygiene supplies are always welcome. For more information, visit www.ntcc.edu/carecenter, e-mail care@ntcc.edu or call 903-434-8307.
