An introduction to the fundamentals of equipment used in oxy-fuel and arc welding including welding and cutting safety basic oxy-fuel welding and cutting basic arc welding processes and basic metallurgy.

WLDG 1425 Introduction to Oxy-Fuel Welding and Cutting

An introduction to oxy-fuel welding and cutting including history and future in welding safety setup and maintenance of oxy-fuel welding and cutting equipment and supplies.

WLDG 1428 Introduction to Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)

An introduction to shielded metal arc welding process. Emphasis placed on power sources electrode selection oxy-fuel cutting and various joint designs. Instruction provided in SMAW fillet welds in various positions.

AUMT 1201 Introduction and Theory of Automotive Technology

An introductory overview of the automotive service industry including history safety practices shop equipment and tools vehicle subsystems service publications professional responsibilities and automobile maintenance. Course material may be taught using manufacture-specific information. Students enrolled in this course must lease a set of hand tools from the college for $40 per semester. (Fall Spring)

ABDR 1315 Vehicle Trim and Hardware

WLDG 1412 Introduction to Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)

An overview of terminology safety procedures and equipment set-up. Practice in performing T-joints lap joints and butt joints using self-shielding and dual-shield electrodes.

AUMT 2317 Automotive Engine Performance Analysis I

Theory operation diagnosis of drivability concerns and repair ignition and fuel delivery systems. Use of current engine performance diagnostic equipment. ABDR 2353 Color Analysis and Paint Matching (Refinishing 3)

Advanced course in color theory color analysis tinting and advanced blending techniques for acceptable paint matching. Extended use of gun techniques and final detailing procedures. Students may lease a set of hand tools from the College for $40.00.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

In the fall of 1997, Northeast Texas Community College began the Welding Program in the Industrial Technology Building. It started with 12 Gas Metal Arc Welding students (MIG Class) on part-time bases. Every semester the college was getting more new interested students in this program. Therefore, in the fall of 2000, the college decided to make a full time welding program offering more and different kinds of welding courses at different times to support all welding students five days, and four nights a week (Monday through Thursday).
