Northeast Texas Community College Student Services, in partnership with TRIO Services, will celebrate National Student Transfer Week Oct. 19-22 with activities designed to help students explore opportunities after NTCC.
Dr. Rehan Shahid, DDS, MBA, MSHM, FAGD, is a practicing dentist, entrepreneur, and CEO and Founder of Shahid Dental Group, Practice Success Academy, and Mount Pleasant Dental Assistant School. A proud Northeast Texas Community College alumnus, Shahid says NTCC gave him the foundation to pursue his goals and “start here and go anywhere.”
Northeast Texas Community College will welcome the community to campus for its annual Scare Affair on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 6-9 p.m. The family-friendly Halloween event will feature booths, games, activities, food, drinks and plenty of spooky fun for all ages. Kids can also enjoy free trick-or-treat candy throughout the event.
Scare Affair is open to everyone, and community members are encouraged to bring their friends and family for an evening of Halloween festivities on the NTCC campus.
t’s not too late to earn math credit this fall at NTCC! Second 8-week math courses begin Oct. 19 and include MATH 0304: Foundations of Mathematical Reasoning (online), MATH 1332: Contemporary Mathematics (online and in person), MATH 1325: Business Calculus (online) and MATH 2414: Calculus II (online).
The NTCC Library invites students, faculty, staff and community members to put their chess skills to the test at a chess tournament Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. in the library.
The entry fee is $5, and the winner will get a prize.
The tournament is open to all skill levels, but space is limited to 20 contestants. Those interested are encouraged to register early in person at the NTCC Library. Cash and card payments are accepted.
The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will welcome Texas artist Beverly Boren as its visiting artist for October. Her exhibit will be on display in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts from Friday, Oct. 2, through noon Wednesday, Oct. 21.
A reception honoring Boren will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 12:30–1:20 p.m. The campus community is invited to attend, meet the artist and view her work.
The Northeast Texas Community College Professional Driving Academy recently partnered with the City of Mt. Pleasant Public Works Department to provide CDL Class B training for eight city employees.

The Northeast Texas Community College Professional Driving Academy in partnership with Ancora continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area.

Dr. Chris McAllister and four NTCC biology students recently traveled to western Arkansas to conduct field research on vertebrate parasites, making several noteworthy discoveries along the way.
McAllister, NTCC Professor of Biology, was joined by Biology 2289 students Ireland Fite, Emely Chavelas, Stephany Fuentes and Jordan Krumrie for the Sept. 23-25 research trip to the Ouachita Mountains and surrounding watersheds.
