Dr. Rehan Shahid, DDS, MBA, MSHM, FAGD, is a practicing dentist, entrepreneur, and CEO and Founder of Shahid Dental Group, Practice Success Academy, and Mount Pleasant Dental Assistant School. A proud Northeast Texas Community College alumnus, Shahid says NTCC gave him the foundation to pursue his goals and “start here and go anywhere.”
After NTCC, Shahid earned a full-ride scholarship to the University of Texas at Dallas, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in biology and master’s degree in healthcare management. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, followed by an MBA, and became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Shahid chose dentistry because it allowed him to combine his interests in medicine and business while building a career and lifestyle that would benefit his family. “It let me combine being a doctor, engineer, artist, and businessman all in one,” he said.
Today, Shahid Dental Group has grown to four locations across Texas and generates multi-million-dollar revenue through systems focused on sustainable growth, accountability, and profitability. Through Practice Success Academy, Shahid coaches dentists and practice owners nationwide on leadership, KPI-driven systems, and building practices that no longer depend on the owner’s daily presence. His mission is to help dentists “buy back their time” and move from operator to CEO. Through Mount Pleasant Dental Assistant School, he also helps train the next generation of dental assistants.
Shahid credits NTCC with teaching him discipline, effective study habits, and how to make the most of opportunities. He also remembers Dr. Mary Hearron as a particularly important mentor. “She inspired me and never gave up on me,” Shahid said. “There were moments when I got distracted, and she saw how much potential I had and kept believing in me.”
That belief helped shape Dr. Shahid’s approach to leadership today, as he works to help other professionals recognize their potential, build successful careers, and create opportunities for those coming behind them.
