Registration for the 2018 Firefighter Academy†at Northeast Texas Community College begins November 1. ?Technology and the Brain? will be the focus of a Program for Learning and Community Engagement (PLACE) lecture on Monday, Oct. 30, at 12:15 p.m. in the Community Room of the Humanities Building on the Northeast Texas Community College campus in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Dr. David Yells, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Texas A&M University-Texarkana, will be the guest speaker.
The free event is open to the public.
The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education Program recently held its annual Lunch and Learn on the Lawn for GED and ESL students and instructors in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness. The program will host student-centered activities and events each month to encourage staff and student engagement, to collaborate with local Adult Education supporters, and to promote Adult Education efforts in the community. It?s time to put on your best Halloween costume, dust off your trick-or-treat basket and head out to Northeast Texas Community College for the 30th annual Scare Affair.
The event is from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21st on the plaza of the main NTCC campus (located on FM 1735 near Chapel Hill ISD). There will be free candy for all trick-or-treaters, low-cost games for all ages, a costume contest with cash prizes and much more! A haunted house will be open until 10:30 p.m.
?Scare Affair is NTCC?s biggest community event of the year.
Rodeo fans will get to see more than 300 athletes from throughout the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) compete for points and prizes next weekend as Northeast Texas Community College its 25th annual rodeo. The event will be held October 20-21 at the Pittsburg Rodeo Arena on HWY 271 N in Pittsburg.
Rodeo action will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday Night and at 1 p.m. on Saturday Afternoon.
The Northeast Texas Community College Culinary Arts Program will host a special Thursday Night Dinner on Oct. 26.† The dinner will be held at the NTCC Culinary School in historic downtown Pittsburg and is open to the public.
The menu for the evening will include bacon-wrapped stuffed meatloaf with rosemary roasted potatoes and country green beans with yeast rolls and a dessert to be determined.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, Oct. 12. Due to high demand at previous events, the Culinary Arts Program has moved to a ticketed event rather than first-come-first-served.
