NTCC Eagles Baseball wins first two in Region 14 tournament

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Baseball team is one step closer to the NJCAA World Series as they beat Galveston College 9-5 Sunday in the Region 14 Tournament. The win came on the heels of an 8-6 win against Blinn College on Saturday.

NTCC got things moving in the first inning against Galveston, when†Manny Garcia†homered on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Pittsburg 20th Century Club gives $500 to Whatley Center

The Pittsburg 20th Century Club recently gave $500 to support the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts and name a seat in the auditorium. Phi Theta Kappa inducts new members

Alpha Mu Chi, the Phi Theta Kappa Chapter of Northeast Texas Community College, recently held its spring induction ceremony at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Speakers for the evening included Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, and Chesney Davis, Alpha Mu Chi member and the outgoing Texas Regional District III Vice-President for Phi Theta Kappa.

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of community college students and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders.

Chambers, Cantrell, Jordan, and Watkins Win Top Rank in McGraw-Hill Poster Contest

?Iron sharpens iron.? And each spring for the last decade, scores of animated scholarly conversations at NTCC?s McGraw Hill Poster contest have furnished novel learning experiences.† NTCC students have learned by teaching and the friends of the college who serve as judges, by asking.

These contests have also, thanks to the generosity of McGraw Hill Education, and this year, to a Whatley Enhancement Grant through Jerald and Mary Lou Mowery of Scroggins, produced student awards.

Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club gives to NTCC Work Scholarship Program

The Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club recently gave $500 to support the Work Scholarship Program at Northeast Texas Community College. The gift, which is in addition to their annual scholarship, will be matched by two grants for a total impact of $1,500. Dr. Jon McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement (center) and Nita May, NTCC Director of Development (right) accepted the gift on behalf of the NTCC Foundation. Presidential Scholars published in academic journal

The 2018 issue of†Touchstone,†the collegiate journal of the Texas State Historical Association released this spring, contains two essays by current Northeast Texas Community College Presidential Scholars. This is now the fourth year in a row that Northeast Texas Community College scholars nudged out leading submissions from students in other colleges and universities in Texas to be published in the prestigious collegiate journal.

NTCC Nursing holds Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society induction

The Northeast Texas Community College Associate Degree Nursing program recently inducted 32 students into its Gamma Omicron Chapter of the Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society. Alpha Delta Nu recognizes the academic excellence of students in the study of Associate Degree Nursing. The selective society requires that students have at least a 3.0 GPA in nursing classes and be recommended by faculty. The 2018 inductees are pictured above (from left).
