The Northeast Texas Community College Soccer teams traveled to Tyler Saturday, September 10th to take on the Nationally ranked TJC Apaches. TJC would defeat the NTCC Women by a score of 3-0 and defeated the Men 4-1.

The Women’s team from TJC is ranked number 2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rankings and the Eagles team put in a great effort while still short handed in goal, with the starter still out of commission. TJC would score early on a penalty kick and the Eagles would keep it close most of the game until the Apaches scored their final goal with just under five minutes to play. Maria Whitaker (Kilgore, Texas) would have a good performance against the highly ranked Apaches in the loss, said Coach Heather Brady. The Eagles played well as a team and were able to put four shots on goal, but unfortunately came up short.

Northeast Texas Community College Theatre Department is excited to bring to you two fabulous plays for our 2022/2023 theatre season. Our first play, Almost, Maine, will be December 1-3, 2022 in the Whatley Center.

A LITTE ABOUT THE PLAY:

“Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.”

students picking muscadines

It is muscadine harvesting time at NTCC Farm! The farm crew has been picking as many as they can and the vines are still loaded! Everyone is welcome to come out to the college farm vineyard and harvest some for their own jelly making or wine making. The farm has 10 different varieties of muscadine - purple or gold! The cost is $5 a gallon to pick and they have a limited number of picked/frozen muscadines for $10 a gallon. According to René McCracken, Ag Director, a regular grocery bag full is enough to make a small batch of jelly.

Northeast Texas Community College Women’s and Men’s Soccer teams made the trip down south to Brenham, Texas to face Blinn College on Wednesday, September 7th in conference play with Blinn coming away with the win in both games.

The women fell to the Blinn Buccaneers 2-0 in a lightning delayed game. Just before halftime of the 5:00pm start, lightning moved into the area forcing a stoppage of the game with the Eagles down 1-0. After the lengthy delay, Blinn added one more goal in the second half to complete the win.

coach JD Perales

The Northeast Texas Community College Men’s Soccer team opened conference play against Coastal Bend College (Beeville, TX) on Saturday, September 3rd. The Eagles defeated the Cougars 2-1 to get Coach JD Perales his first win as Head Coach of the Eagles.

For coach Perales this was technically his first win as head coach, back in the Spring of 2021, he stepped up as coach of the men’s team when playoff schedules forced the Eagle men’s and women’s teams to play on the same date at different locations. As interim Head Coach he picked up a playoff victory then.
