Northeast Texas Community College officially opened its new TRIO Student Support Services Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony held Wednesday, Feb. 4. The event marked the launch of the federally funded program designed to help eligible students succeed in college through personalized academic support and resources.
Faculty, staff and students gathered in the Business Technology (BT) building to celebrate the opening and welcome students who have already been accepted into the program. The new center will serve as a hub for TRIO participants, offering services such as tutoring, academic advising, financial aid assistance, transfer support and mentoring.
As part of the celebration, two students — Dori Macedo and Bryan Martinez — were awarded $500 scholarships through a drawing held during the ceremony.
TRIO Student Support Services is open to eligible NTCC students who meet program requirements, including first-generation college students, students with documented disabilities or those who meet income guidelines. Space in the program is limited, and interested students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Students can learn more about TRIO services and apply online at https://www.ntcc.edu/federal-programs/trio-student-support-services.
The TRIO Student Support Services Center is located in the Business Technology (BT) building on the NTCC campus.
