Northeast Texas Community College will host an interest meeting for its upcoming Washington, D.C. Travel Study Course on Monday, Feb. 9, at 12:30 p.m. in HUM-107.

The meeting is open to students, faculty and community members who are considering participating in the May 2026 educational travel experience or would like updated information about available courses, scholarships and trip details.

NTCC is offering a limited number of scholarships that fully cover course tuition for students enrolled in the travel study class. Available courses include Government 2305; History 1301 and 1302; English 1302, 2327 and 2342; Introduction to Mass Communication; Art Appreciation; and Photography. Scholarships apply to tuition only and do not cover the trip cost.

The five-day trip is scheduled for May 27–31, 2026, with a total cost of $1,600, which includes travel, lodging and scheduled activities (not tuition/fees). Installment payment plans are available through Continuing Education. Students must commit to participating no later than March 1, 2026.

Planned activities include visits to Capitol Hill — including the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress and Supreme Court — as well as the National Archives, major monuments and memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon and a policy session with government affairs professionals.

“This trip offers students a unique opportunity to earn course credit while experiencing the nation’s capital firsthand,” said Matt Homer, NTCC government instructor and trip leader. “We encourage anyone who is curious about the program or interested in the tuition scholarship to attend the meeting and learn more.”
