NTCC's 40-year story began before the doors officially opened—and Suzy Murray was there from the very beginning. As the daughter of Dr. James Archer and Dr. Patricia Diehm, she remembers helping her family assemble furniture and unpacking chemistry lab equipment in the weeks before the college opened in 1985.
While attending Texas A&M, Suzy took summer classes at NTCC and later worked in the library and tutoring center. It was during that time in the library that she discovered her passion for librarianship.
Today, Suzy celebrates 25 years with the Sacramento Public Library, where she has served as a youth librarian, library supervisor, and now manages digital resources for the library system.
A proud member of the NTCC family, Suzy supports the NTCC Food Pantry, helping provide resources for students. She also honors the memory of her grandmother, Cleo, who left school after sixth grade to help care for her family and never had the opportunity to attend college. Through her generosity, Suzy honors Cleo's legacy while helping today's students pursue their educational dreams.
