The Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) Theatre Department invites the public to catch one of the final three performances of its spring production, The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde. This classic comedy of mistaken identities and social satire will be performed at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus.

Remaining performances include:

  • Friday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m.

  • Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Directed by Dr. Page Petrucka, this classic play satirizes Victorian social norms through a fast-paced story of mistaken identities, secret romances, and absurdly earnest lies. The plot follows Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, two young men who create fictional personas to escape their social obligations and pursue love. Their plans go hilariously awry when their deceptions begin to unravel, leading to unexpected twists and witty revelations.

The talented student cast brings Wilde’s iconic characters to life:

  • Tailer Chong as Jack Worthing
  • Garrison Duck as Algernon Moncrieff
  • Ladarrius Patterson in the dual roles of Lane and Merriman
  • Athena Hayes as the formidable Lady Bracknell
  • Maddie Simmons as the poised Gwendolyn Fairfax
  • Tegan Smith as the charming Cecily Cardew
  • Maya Garcia as Miss Prism
  • Ro’Shaun Allen as Dr. Chasuble

Don’t miss this witty and whimsical production that continues to captivate audiences more than a century after its debut.
