Kerry Wooten elected to NTCC Board of Trustees

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees held a special called meeting on Monday, May 13th at noon. The only action item was to canvass the May 4th Board of Trustee election returns. Place Seven on the NTCC Board of Trustees was up for election and there were two candidates: Lance Walsh and Kerry Wooten. Election results were as follows:

Titus County Total- 1,690

Kerry Wooten- 1,247
Lance Walsh- 363
Undervotes- 79
Overvotes- 1

Camp County Total- 165

Adult Education to host GED graduation on May 16

The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education and Literacy program will hold its General Education Development (GED) commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 7 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. All students who have completed the NTCC GED program during the program year will be honored. Live streaming will be available for family and friends who are unable to attend in person.  A brief reception will be held in the Whatley Center foyer after the commencement ceremony.

Exciting magic show coming to the Whatley Center

Renowned stage magician Zak Mirz will mesmerize Mount Pleasant with an unforgettable family-friendly magic show at 7 p.m. on June 14th at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Zak, a first-generation Texan, and American, discovered solace and wonder in magic after the tragic loss of his father at a young age. Today, he travels the world, sharing his captivating illusions and spreading messages of hope.

NTCC students win six awards at the Red River Honors Symposium

Twelve students from NTCC competed at the Second Annual Red River Honors Symposium, hosted by Texas A&M University-Texarkana on Friday May 3. Students from colleges throughout the Red River area, including northeast Texas and into Oklahoma, presented posters showcasing their research from the past year. Students competed in five categories: Social Sciences, Humanities, Health Sciences, STEM, and Service Projects.  Six NTCC students won awards and cash prizes.

Housing residents create stress balls for finals week

Everyone knows that finals can be a stressful time for college students. Residents of NTCC's Housing East and West recently enjoyed a party where they created their own stress balls to help them get through the end of the semester. The process was a bit messy, but fun for all involved.

NTCC is currently accepting housing applications for the 2024-2025 academic year.
