The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a donation of $10,000 from Texas Heritage National Bank (THNB). The funds will be used to endow the Sid Greer Memorial Honors Scholarship at NTCC. Pictured, John Bryan (left) presents the check to Dr. Jon McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement, on behalf of THNB. Greer, who passed away in December 2024, served on the NTCC Board of Trustees faithfully for 23 years. During that time he served as Board Secretary for 12 years.

Dr. Dominique Spigner’s journey into social work was unexpected—it found her. During a difficult day at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC), she noticed a sign asking, “Do you like helping people?” Each question resonated with her, leading her to enroll in NTCC’s social work program. That moment changed her life forever.

For the ninth time since the awards began in 2015, an NTCC scholar has won a $100 Britt Award of the Great Plains Honors Council.  Stephanie Hernandez, a first-year Presidential Scholar from Mount Pleasant, bested all other competitors in the humanities poster division for freshmen and sophomores at the meeting of the Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC).  The awards were announced at the closing banquet of the 7-9 March meeting in Denton, Texas.

Most current NTCC students can register online over spring break by logging into the portal at myeagle.ntcc.edu. The full course schedule is available at www.ntcc.edu/spring25. 

NTCC students who will graduate in May 2025 and plan to transfer to a four-year university this fall are encouraged to apply for the International Sulphur Transfer Scholarship. Seven recipients will receive $1,500 each. This scholarship is designated for eligible students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and are completing their NTCC studies this spring.

Farmers, gardeners, and homesteading enthusiasts will gather at Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) on Saturday, March 29, 2025, for the 2nd Annual Homestead Fair. The event, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NTCC Ag Complex, aims to connect local producers and individuals interested in sustainable agriculture and self-sufficiency. The Northeast Texas Community College Faculty Senate is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. Qualified applicants will have at least 15 semester hours of college credit, reside in Texas, and not currently receive more than $500 in scholarship aid. 

Northeast Texas Community College will be closed March 17-21 for spring break.

As we celebrate Mardi Gras, Northeast Texas Community College’s (NTCC) Office of Student Development is embracing the spirit of giving with a Mardi Gras Sock Drive, running March 1-31.

Socks are among the most needed but least donated items in shelters and nursing homes. To help, NTCC aims to collect new, packaged socks for those in need across East Texas. Donations can be dropped off at SUB 101 throughout March.
