Northeast Texas Community College’s very own Jimmy Smith Jr. will kick off the Sounds of Northeast series with a concert at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, Feb. 18th at 2:30 p.m. Smith’s concert will feature covers of many contemporary gospel favorites, as well as his newly-released single Unhchanging Hand. Guest collaborators will include Kristian Luker, Marketta Timmons-Richardson, Courtnee Williams, and Payge Cowans.
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) will recognize Dr. Ron Clinton, President, Northeast Texas Community College (TX), with the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction during PTK Catalyst 2024, the Society’s annual convention in Orlando, Fl, April 4-6, 2024. The Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction is Phi Theta Kappa’s most prestigious award for community college presidents and is named in honor of the late Dr. Shirley B.
Two NTCC science students are utilizing an independent study opportunity to conduct groundbreaking research on fish parasites. Michael Rodriguez (left) is from Marietta. He wants to pursue more work in agriculture (he holds an AAS in agriculture) and go into wildlife conservation with a primary interest in restoring land for farming use. The NTCC Theatre Department is excited to announce auditions for the spring production of ANTIGONE NOW. It’s a modern adaptation of the Greek classic Antigone.
Auditions will be Tuesday, February 13th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the Whatley. Auditions will be “cold reads,” or cuttings from the script. These cuttings will be provided.

Northeast Texas Community College welcomes Artist Tom Morrissey as the exhibiting artist for February. His artwork will be on display beginning Friday, February 1st – Thursday, February 22nd. A reception will be held on Wednesday, February 7th, at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation and the Carroll Shelby Automotive Program took center stage in front of thousands and a nation
