Eagles Softball sweeps Hill College in doubleheader

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Softball team continued their hot streak last week on February 13th. Below are summaries from both games...

Game 1 - Win - (4-2)

  • NTCC Eagle Softball were triumphant over LCU Lady Wildcat Softball 4-2 on Thursday in game 1 of the DH.
  • Eagles opened the scoring in the first after Conlee Zachry drew a walk, scoring one run. An error extended NTCC lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning.
  • Kiersten Fincannon, starting pitcher, surrendered five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking four.
  • Preslielyn Barraza, Gracie Brown, Fincannon, Taylor Gouge, and Zachry each collected one hit for NTCC Eagle Softball.
  • Brown, Fincannon, and Gouge each drove in one run for NTCC Eagle Softball.
  • Eagles ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game.

Game 2 - Win - (9-5)

  • Conlee Zachry Puts On Strong Contact Performance As NTCC Eagle Softball Take The Win Over LCU Lady Wildcat Softball
  • Conlee Zachry collected three hits in four at bats, as NTCC Eagle Softball defeated LCU Lady Wildcat Softball 9-5 on Thursday. Zachry singled in the second inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the first inning.
  • A single by Matti Nix put NTCC Eagle Softball on the board in the top of the first.
  • NTCC scored five runs on six hits in the top of the second inning. Zachry singled, scoring one run, Nix doubled, scoring two runs, and Paislee Clark doubled, scoring two runs.
  • LCU Lady Wildcat Softball scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored one run, and Trinity Fulkerson hit a grand slam to left field.
  • Sawyer Strange picked up her first win in the circle - pitching four and two-thirds innings in relief for NTCC. The pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs while, striking out six and walking two.
  • Hope Grant led things off in the circle for NTCC Eagle Softball. The righty surrendered one hit and five runs (zero earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three.
  • Morgan Louviere started the game for LCU Lady Wildcat Softball. The starting pitcher gave up nine hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one.
  • NTCC Eagle Softball accumulated 14 hits in the game. Preslielyn Barraza and Zachry were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for NTCC Eagle Softball. Nix drove the middle of the lineup, leading the eagles with four runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Morgan Hill collected two hits for NTCC in four at bats. Barraza stole two bases. NTCC stole five bases in the game.
