McAllister presents at Arkansas Academy of Science
Dr. Chris McAllister (NTCC Biology) attended the 104th annual meeting of the Arkansas Academy of Science (AAS) at the University of Arkansas-Ft. Smith on April 4-6. He presented three oral presentations and a poster of his research. He has been attending the AAS since 1978 and served as an Associate Editor for the journal. He plans to publish this work in the Journal of the Arkansas Academy of Science. Dr. Mac is pictured with his poster (left) and giving one of his oral presentations.
Theatre production runs through this Saturday
The Northeast Texas Community College Theatre Department will present Antigone Now, a modern take on the classic Greek drama, Thursday through Friday April 25-27 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus.
Monserrat Rivero Sanchez wins international officer position in PTK
Monserrat Rivero Sanchez, a Presidential Honors Scholar at Northeast Texas Community College, recently won election for an International Officer position within Phi Theta Kappa. Rivero Sanchez will be serving as the Division II Vice-President, which includes 322 chapters found in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, the British Virgin Islands and Peru. She is among a team of just five international officers who represent 3.8 million members around the world.
Mount Pleasant Chamber Orchestra performance planned for April 13th
The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to host the Mount Pleasant Chamber Orchestra on Saturday, April 13th at 7:30 p.m. Part of the Sounds of Northeast series, this is the last performance of the Whatley’s 2023-2024 season.
Michelle Calderon Receives Graham Leadership and Ethics Scholarship
Michelle Calderon, a student at Northeast Texas Community College in Texas, has received the Gordon Graham Leadership and Ethics in Criminal Justice Scholarship of $1,250 from the International Public Safety Leadership and Ethics Institute (IPSLEI) and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
This scholarship is awarded to only one Phi Theta Kappa member nationwide who is enrolled in an associate degree program in a criminal justice field at a regionally accredited college.
Student art exhibit on display through April 30th
The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will hold its annual student art show from Thursday, April 4th through Tuesday, April 30th in the foyer gallery of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The exhibit will feature student artworks in design, drawing, ceramics, photography, and digital media. A reception will be held Wednesday, April 10th in the Whatley Center foyer at 12:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come, meet our amazing students, and enjoy the exhibit.
