Northeast Texas Community College recently hosted its first Health STAR (Student Training and Access to Resources) program. Over a three-day period, 35 area high school students with an interest in healthcare professions spent time at NTCC and Titus Regional Medical Center (pictured). Students had the opportunity to learn more about the educational†requirements†for various healthcare fields, shadow working†practitioners and participate in real-world scenarios using simulators.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will host the popular humorist, Jeanne Robertson, on its stage Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Turning 70 years young this year, Robertson continues to charm audiences with her humorous observations about life around her.

Michael Brown (left) recently gave $500 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation on behalf of his organization, Team Arise. The funds will provide a scholarship to NTCC students who are veterans or children of veterans. Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the gift. Congratulations to Brenda Deming, the very first recipient of NTCC's new Wellness Caught in Action honor!†She was spotted in the FIT doing a spinning workout. Brenda was presented with a gift basket†in recognition†of her steps toward a healthy lifestyle.

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $25,000 gift from the Carroll Shelby Foundation. The donation will provide scholarships for students in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at NTCC. Northeast Texas Community College recently inducted new members into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for students at two-year colleges. Presidential Scholar Angelica Fuentes recently set another precedent for Northeast Texas Community College. She is the first student in the college?s history to appear on the program of a professional historical association.

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will host an artist reception Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Attendees will have the†opportunity†to view†Refined by Fire, a display of pottery by Karen Lowrey of Longview. The artist will meet†with guests, discuss her work and take questions. The exhibit will be on display through Oct.

Mary Smith, a sophomore at Northeast Texas Community College, was recently awarded her sixth scholarship of the school year. Smith, of Gilmer, was presented the Walter B. Cooper Memorial Scholarship at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Leadership Conference October 11 at Texas A&M University College Station.
