Quilts created by local quilters will hang in the Whatley Center foyer in what is now an annual tradition for the Northeast Texas Community College art department. For the third consecutive year, quilters bring their treasured art to share with the community. The exhibit runs from Wednesday, Nov. 7 through Monday, Nov. 26. A reception is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer, and refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to the public.
Last year, quilters from the area, including members of the Five Points Quilters group, brought 25 quilts for this exhibit.
“I am so excited to see what new beauties the local quilters have created. I want to thank all of them for sharing their work,” Debbie Strong, Associate Professor of Art and Division Chair for Creative and Performing Arts, said.“We hope folks will join us for the reception as we admire these beautiful works of functional art and meet the artists who create them.”
The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular business hours. The college will be closed for Thanksgiving break from November 21-23 and the Whatley Center will be closed during that time.
