Northeast Texas Community College Softball had their season home opener on Monday against North Central Texas College. NCTC would take down the Eagles in both games on a windy day at Eagle Field at NTCC.

Jodi Dehart (Pictured above, Lindale HS) would get the Eagles on the board in the bottom of the first with a first pitch solo homerun. The Eagles lead would be short lived as NCTC would score nine runs in the second inning on nine hits including three home runs as well. Grayson would add two more runs in the fourth and one final run in the fifth inning to move to the lead to 12-1. Dehart would add the second run for the Eagles in the fifth inning when she hit a one out double to right field. Shea Nelson (Hughes Springs HS) would reach base when she was hit by a pitch to give the Eagles some hope with two runners on. Kailey Hancock (Central HS) would draw a walk to load the bases for NTCC. Abby Russ (Hooks HS) would single to left to score Dehart and Johnae Robinson (Central HS) would laydown a sacrifice to bring Nelson home for the final run for the Eagles in the 12-3 loss.

Daphne Bogenschutz (White Oak HS) would get the start in the circle for the Eagles before giving way to Presley Swindell (Durant, OK) and Lani Green (Kilgore, TX) in game one.

In game two, Sarah Overholtzer (Bellflower, CA) would get the start and go five innings before giving way to Bogenschutz for the final two innings of work.

After falling behind 5-0, NTCC got things going offensively in bottom of the second when Jalissa Alavarez (Mount Pleasant HS) would get base with a one out single. Alvarez would steal second base and score when Robinson hit a two out double to left-center field. The Eagles would keep the two out rally going when Haley McAlexander (New Boston HS) would double to score Robinson. Nelson would follow her double with a single to score McAlexander to cut the lead to 5-4 for NCTC.

The offensive run for the Eagles came to and end and North Central added one more run in the third inning, two in the fourth and one final run in the sixth to defeat the Eagles 9-4.
