José Fuentes wins prestigious Guistwhite Scholarship
José Fuentes, a student at Northeast Texas Community College, a Phi Theta Kappa member, has been selected as a 2026 Guistwhite Scholar and will receive a $5,000 scholarship for baccalaureate studies.
Winners were chosen from among 3,000 applicants nationwide, and their selection was based on academic excellence, leadership accomplishments, and engagement in Phi Theta Kappa programs. They will also receive a commemorative medallion.

Hannah Jones, originally from Daingerfield, Texas, now lives in Colfax, Louisiana, with her husband and two children. She worked four years as an ICU nurse in Tyler and Longview before becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), a role she has held in Louisiana for 13 years.

Workforce Solutions to host Titus County Job Fair at NTCC on March 3
Workforce Solutions of Northeast Texas will host the Titus County Job Fair on Tuesday, March 3, on the campus of Northeast Texas Community College. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the NTCC Student Union Building, located at 2886 FM 1735 in Mount Pleasant.

Stephanie Hernandez named a PTK New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar
Stephanie Hernandez, a Phi Theta Kappa student at Northeast Texas Community College, has been named a 2026 New Century Transfer Scholar and will receive a $2,750 scholarship.
New Century Transfer Scholars are selected based on their academic accomplishments, leadership, activities, and how they extend their intellectual talents beyond the classroom. More than 2,300 students from nearly 1,400 college campuses nationwide were nominated. Only one New Century Transfer Scholar is selected from each state.
