Mardi Gras Sock Drive collects 233 pairs of socks for local seniors

As part of Northeast Texas Community College’s Mardi Gras Madness celebration, the Office of Student Development hosted its first-ever Mardi Gras Sock Drive—and the campus community delivered in a big way.

Thanks to the generosity of students, staff, and campus organizations, 233 pairs of new socks were collected for Greenhill Villas of Mount Pleasant, a local care facility. Socks are one of the most requested yet often overlooked items in such facilities, and this donation will help bring much-needed comfort and warmth to residents.

This innovative program gives access to high-demand fields designed to meet the evolving needs of Northeast Texas industries.

Dr. Chris McAllister presents research at Arkansas Academy of Science meeting

Dr. Chris McAllister (pictured above), NTCC Professor of Biology, attended the 108th meeting of the Arkansas Academy of Science (AAS) at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas, April 4-5, 2025. 

Dr. Mac presented two oral presentations as well as two posters. He has been attending the AAS meeting since 1978 when he presented his first paper at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville.  He served as Managing Editor of the journal from 2006-2008.

Theatre to present "The Importance of Being Earnest" April 24th-26th

The Northeast Texas Community College Theatre Department invites the community to a delightful evening of wit and charm with its spring production of The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s celebrated comedic masterpiece. Performances will be held at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts April 24th-26th at 7 p.m. with a special 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, April 26th.

Art department hosts student artist reception, announces contest winners

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department is currently hosting its annual Student Art Show in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. This week, a reception was held to honor all of the artists and announce contest winners. The gallery is open to the public during regular business hours and the show will be on display through April 29th.
