The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles kept their postseason hopes alive Saturday afternoon with an impressive 11-1 run-rule victory over Alvin College in six innings during Game 3 of the Region XIV North Tournament at Eagle Field.

Facing elimination after an 11-2 loss to Navarro College on Friday night, the Eagles responded in a big way with an explosive offensive performance, collecting 11 hits and scoring in five of six innings.

The Eagles ran into a hot Navarro lineup Friday night, falling 11-2 in Game 2 of the Region XIV Tournament. Navarro collected 12 hits and used a big middle stretch to pull away despite Northeast battling throughout the night. Click here for free downloadable tournament photos. 

Offensively, the Eagles were led by Josh Staten, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and both NTCC RBIs. Jonathon Kent and Cameron Reiter each added hits, while the pitching staff worked through a patient Navarro offense that drew nine walks.

The NTCC Eagles opened postseason play in dramatic fashion Thursday, edging Alvin College 2-1 to advance in the Region XIV North Tournament. Click here for downloadable photos from the game. 

In a tightly contested matchup, runs were at a premium as both pitching staffs delivered strong performances. NTCC managed just six hits on the day but made them count, plating single runs in key moments to secure the win.

Northeast Texas Community College baseball is celebrating an impressive list of postseason honors, as the Eagles earned multiple All-Region XIV and Region XIV North Conference recognitions following a standout season.

Kilgore College will soon host a Day Basic Peace Officer Course on the campus of Northeast Texas Community College, offering a local pathway for individuals interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

The 775-hour course is scheduled to begin June 29, with a mandatory orientation set for June 23 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Classes will typically meet Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with some evening and nighttime training required. The program generally takes five to six months to complete.

Adam Richards was recently named the winner of the 2026 Elizabeth Chitsey Award, granted each year to the student of Honors Northeast who most exceeded expectations during their first year at NTCC.  The award comes with a $200 check.

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $500 donation from Dwain and Linda Blount of Mount Pleasant. Their gift will be used to sponsor a student in the 2026 Work4College Program. The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $50,000 gift from the Carroll Shelby Foundation. Pictured (from left) is Jimmy Smith, NTCC Dean of Workforce; Aaron Shelby, Co-President, Carroll Shelby Foundation; and Austin Maness, Director of the Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute. The funds provided scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year for students in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute.
