Honors Northeast

We offer very competitive scholarship packages and additional benefits. As an honors student at NTCC you will be part of a small, close-knit community of driven individuals. Our program focuses heavily on research. Students have numerous opportunities to present their projects at the regional and national levels. Students also receive personal advising  and one-on-one coaching from honors professors with doctorates.

Honors Northeast is a recognized honors program with national standing.

 

Recent Publications of NTCC Honors Scholars

Touchstone is the journal of the Walter Prescott Webb Historical Society, and is published by the Texas State Historical Association. Since 1982, the journal has focused on collegiate contributions to the history of Texas, publishing top essays by community-college and university students. Articles of special interest to Texas history submitted by students and faculty who are not associated with the Society are also considered for publication.

McAllister, Chris

Dr. Chris McAllister graduated from High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, and received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He got his M.S. in Biology from Arkansas State University. His Ph.D. was earned from the University of North Texas in Ecology. His doctoral thesis was entitled, “Systematics of Coccidian Parasites (Apicomplexa) from Amphibians and Reptiles in Northcentral Texas”. Dr. McAllister also received a postdoctoral fellowship in Internal Medicine at the VA Medical Center in Dallas where he studied diabetes research.

2020 McGraw Hill Poster Contest

 

The Covid-19 challenge of 2020 led to a new format for the annual McGraw Hill Poster Contest. It also inspired some of our students to go above and beyond what had been attained in previous years! This page shows not only some of the leading student posters, but also some of the remarkable essays on which the posters were based. As students were expected to upload a video for our community judges, we also have a first-ever record of the appeal they made--on YouTube.
