Priefert team wins NTCC Golf Classic

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently held its annual golf tournament at the Mount Pleasant Country Club. This was the 25th†consecutive year of the tournament. Gold sponsors for the event were AEP-Swepco, American National Bank, Capps Insurance, Guaranty Bond Bank, Luminant, Northeast Texas Credit Union and Scrubbies Wash USA. Silver sponsors were EDH Electric, Texas Heritage National Bank, Big Tex, Elliott Motors and Redfearn Real Estate.

Psi Beta inducts 11 new members

Northeast Texas Community College recently inducted 11 new members into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for students at two-year colleges.

Theatre Northeast to present The Rainmaker

Theatre Northeast will present the romantic comedy†The Rainmaker†in the Studio Theatre of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Northeast TexasCommunity College.

NTCC 23rd Annual Rodeo

The Northeast Texas Community College 23rd annual rodeo wrapped up Saturday afternoon at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Arena. The NTCC women?s team took second place and the men finished fourth.

NTCC athletes were up against around 300 competitors from other colleges and universities in the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA)

Wacey Hathcock won the saddle bronc riding and Slatyr Hunnicut finished third in the same event.

Jon and Patti Cohen give $30,000 endowed scholarship

Northeast Texas Community College recently received a $30,000 planned gift from Jon and Patti Cohen. This donation established an endowed memorial scholarship that will provide three $500 scholarships per year to benefit cosmetology students at NTCC. The scholarship is given in memory of Johnnie Cohen, who was a long-time cosmetology instructor at NTCC. Ready, Set, Garden!

It certainly has been a busy few weeks getting classes going at the Northeast Texas Community College Farm.† The organic gardening and food production class has been busy at work doing what some of you home gardeners might be interested in.† We have raised vegetable beds that I discovered in a patch of weeds at the farm.† Unfortunately, when the students leave for the summer, so do the labor hands for us ?

NTCC wins honors for marketing and public relations

This NTCC baseball photo, taken by Jeremy Weber, received a gold medal in the Original Photography category in the 2012 NCMPR District 4 Medallion Awards. It was one of five awards NTCC took home.

Jodi Weber, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, accepted the awards at the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 4 conference in Little Rock, Arkansas.

College Rodeo begins Thursday

Rodeo fans will get to see more than 300 athletes from throughout the†Southern Region of the NIRA compete for points and prizes this weekend as Mount Pleasant hosts the the 23rd annual NTCC rodeo. The event will be held October 11-13 at the Mount Pleasant City Arena on Greenhill Road.

In addition,†there will also be Priefert Mutton Busting for the kids each night before†the rodeo performance.

The Thursday and Friday performances will kick off Mutton Busting at 6:30†p.m. and rodeo action will begin at 7:30 p.m. Events on Saturday begin at†1 p.m.
