The Mount Pleasant Fine Arts Club recently gave $500 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. The funds will be used to provide a scholarship for an NTCC student majoring in art, music or drama. The group has been contributing to scholarships since 1985 when the college first opened. They also presented a $25 honorarium to the NTCC Art Department. The club made the presentation while holding their club meeting on campus in the art lab. Carter BloodCare will be on campus Tuesday, January 31, 2017 conducting a blood drive. Please help save a life by donating blood! The blood drive bus will be located in the parking lot behind the Student Union Building from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dr. Ron Clinton, Northeast Texas Community College Executive Vice President for Instruction, will perform a solo piano recital on Sunday, Jan. 29 at†2:30 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.†Tickets to the concert are $15 for adults and $5 for children and NTCC students with a current ID. Proceeds from the event will benefit scholarships for NTCC students.

The concert will feature Beethoven?s Piano Sonata No. 9, Op. 14 No. 1; Chopin?s Ballade No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 52; Ravel?s Sonatine and Brahms? Piano Sonata No. 1 in C Major, Op. 1.

NTCC is also accepting applications for its next evening academy, which begins March 13. Classes meet Monday-Thursday from 5-10 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Honors Northeast, the honors program at Northeast Texas Community College, will premiere an original historical film Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The production, Sam Houston and the Fate of the Texas Cherokee, is the fifth film Honors Northeast has completed in the last five years.

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation is now accepting applications for the International Sulphur Transfer Scholarship. This scholarship fund provides five awards of $1,000 each for NTCC students transferring to a four-year university. Those†who meet the criteria below should plan to apply by April 14 in order to be considered for this scholarship:

Northeast Texas Community College will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The college will resume regular business hours and kick off the first day of the Spring 2017 semester on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Students will report to their Monday-Wednesday classes for the first time on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Northeast Texas Community College will be closed Dec. 19-30 for winter break. Offices will resume regular business hours Monday, Jan. 2. Spring classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 17. Returning students may register for classes online during the break in their myEagle Portal account. New students can apply for admission and financial aid online.
