The safety and security of students, faculty and staff is a top priority at Northeast Texas Community College. In the event of a campus emergency, NTCC will send Eagle Alerts via text, voice and e-mail through the IRIS dispatch system.
On August 11, three NTCC students presented their chemistry research at a symposium held at Texas A&M Commerce. Jonathan Wilcox, John Rodriguez, and Jordin Chapin were selected to participate in a 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). These research experiences engage students in meaningful chemistry research alongside graduate students in the research labs and are funded by the National Science Foundation. All three were chemistry students of Dr. Drew Murphy, who recommended they apply for the REU.
Northeast Texas Community College Women’s and Men’s Soccer teams returned to campus on August 10th to begin preparing for the upcoming season. Recently promoted Head Coaches, Heather Brady will oversee the Women’s program and Juan (JD) Perales will oversee the Men’s program.
Northeast Texas Community College celebrated August 2022 commencement on Friday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. A total of 94 graduates were awarded 57 certificates of competency and 61 associate degrees. Whitnee Floyd gave the student welcome and Courtney Baldwin delivered the student response.
Northeast Texas Community College Athletics is moving to digital tickets for the upcoming 2022-2023 sports seasons. In an effort to help our fan experience, Eagle Athletics is now working with Hometown Tickets to provide online ticket sales.
Christi Denney recently presented the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with $2,000 to support the Nita DeWoody Memorial Scholarship fund. The money was raised through a 5K virtual event that was held last year and generous donations by local business sponsors.
The NTCC Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program has moved to a new location on campus. Faculty offices and classrooms are now located in the Instructional Annex building as follows:
Northeast Texas Community College will host its August 2022 commencement ceremony on Friday, Aug. 12 in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. Seating is limited, so only guests who have tickets will be admitted into the auditorium. Graduation will be streamed live on Youtube and Facebook for those who are unable to attend in person.
The Northeast Texas Community College Continuing Education Department hosted 101 children for the 2022 Kids Discovery College this summer. The two-week camp offered a variety of fun and educational classes for kids age 8-16 that ranged from theatre to drone piloting.
The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration. While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant. Please call 903-434-8341 for an appointment. In-person, remote, and online self-paced options will be available.
