In a remarkable show of academic achievement, Honors Northeast scholars won all four 2019 Caldwell Awards for the freshman-sophomore-division essays of the Walter Webb Society, meeting last weekend in Corpus Christi.  They also won the group Caldwell Award for $600 for their film project on Barbara Conrad, produced by Miguel Paco, beating university, and college entries.

Map and flip chart

Have you seen these maps and flip charts by your classroom? The map shows the layout of the building you are in with arrows for escape routes and green areas represent weather shelter areas. The Emergency Preparedness flip chart contains NTCC procedure for a variety of emergencies and is a great quick reference. Take a moment to check these out the next time you pass one and become aware of their locations in case they are needed.

Eagles logo

It may still be winter, but spring is in the air at Northeast Texas Community College as the Eagles baseball and softball teams gear up for the spring seasons. Baseball will kick off the pre-season with a home series against Cowley College Feb. 1-2. Softball opens the same weekend at home with games against Mountain View and Hill College, both on Feb. 2.

Frankie King

The Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees voted to appoint Frankie King of Pittsburg to fill a vacant board seat last Tuesday night at the regular January meeting. King will serve in Place One, which became available after Jerry Webster retired from the board in December.

Eckman winners

For their performance in two challenging honors seminars at Northeast Texas Community College in relation to their peers, two Presidential Scholars have recently won $100 checks.

Meatballs

The fall and winter time of the year have us slowing down on the farm a bit and beginning to celebrate the holidays. Plants are moved indoors and gardens have finally quit producing and its traditionally a good time to process meats on the farm.

This year we have both farm-raised beef and pork and both could be used for this crowd-pleasing recipe. The Stove Top Meatballs were a hit at our Christmas party as I’m sure they will be at any gathering you take them to.
