Adult Ed offers free GED, ESL classes

The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration.  While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N.

McGraw-Hill poster winners travel to Texas Shakespeare Festival

The two top winners of the 2022 McGraw Hill Poster Contest at the Whatley Foyer in May received a free trip, ticket and lunch, 28 July, to the Texas Shakespeare Festival in Kilgore, Texas. Together with Honors Director Dr. Andrew Yox, Skylar Fondren, and Victor Diaz saw Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew in an afternoon production.

Incoming Scholar of Honors Northeast to play pipe organ recital

On Sunday, 7 August at 3 p.m., Samuel Anderson Pollan will feature works of Johann Sebastian Bach, and other classics of the literature for pipe organ at the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg. The church is located at 109 College Street. The public is invited, and admission is free. Refreshments will be served after the recital.
