Baseball defeats Navarro College

Northeast Texas Community College Baseball hit the road, for their third game in three days, to take on Navarro College in a Conference matchup on Thursday. NTCC would take down Navarro 12-3 in the series opener.

Logan Asay (Frisco Wakeland HS) would take the mound for the Eagles and would keep the Bulldogs in check going six innings striking out eight batters while giving up just three runs on five hits. Bridgeland High School duo of Landon Herrmann and Brock Shoffner would pitch an inning in relief each to close out the game.

NTCC would go scoreless in the first, and after going down 1-0 after one inning of play the offensive attack started in the second inning with the Eagles plating six runs to take the lead and not look back.

After three straight walks to start the second inning, Jett Forrest (Lorena HS) would make the Bulldogs pay with a single to scoring the first two runs of the game with a single to right/center field. NTCC would score six runs total in the inning to take a 6-1 lead.

Nico Baumbach (Euless Trinity HS) and Sawyre Thornhill (Huntington HS) would each add solo home runs to extend the lead for NTCC, Baumbach would go deep in the fourth inning and Thornhill in the seventh to give the Eagles an 8-3 lead.

The Eagles would score four more runs in the eighth inning to put the game away. Baumbach led the offensive effort going three for five with five RBI’s. Cole Modgling (Medina Valley HS) and Thornhill would also add two hits each to help lead NTCC to victory.

The Eagles will return home on Saturday, February 27th at 1:00pm for games two and three of the series at 1:00pm weather permitting.
