Marty Stuart kicks off Whatley Center season on Oct. 5th

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will kick off its 2023-2024 performance season with a special event concert by country music legend Marty Stuart on Thursday, Oct. 5th at 7:30 p.m.

Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives band will take the stage to perform your favorite classics as well as music from his latest album that was released earlier this year.

Shelby program to host dyno day and open house Oct. 14th

The Carroll Shelby Automotive Program at Northeast Texas Community College will host their annual Dyno Day and Open House on Saturday, Oct. 14th. The event will be held at the Shelby Automotive building on the NTCC campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants who would like to test the performance of their vehicle can get a 15-minute dyno pull for $35. The facilities will also be open for touring, including the new EV building that was recently completed. There will also be memorbilia sales and food. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Shelby Automotive Student Club.

Elliott Auto Group donates truck to Shelby Automotive Program

Elliott Auto Group in Mount Pleasant recently donated a customized Ford F-150 truck to the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at Northeast Texas Community College. PTA students participate in wheelchair mobility activities

The NTCC Physical Therapist Assistant program has started a new academic year with 16 new students. Students recently participated in wheelchair mobility activities including maneuvering wheelchairs on level and unlevel surfaces, in elevators, and on curbs and ramps. Students also learned to measure patients for custom wheelchairs and determine appropriate fit of wheelchairs. The NTCC Physical Therapist Assistant Program here at NTCC is the shortest in the state at 17 months.

Sign up for Intermediate ASL, Conversational Spanish

You may have seen some buzz on social media lately about the Continuing Education Department's American Sign Language (ASL) and Conversational Spanish classes being held in Mount Pleasant. ASL is being taught at Jo's Downtown on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Conversational Spanish is at Super Bueno on Monday and Wednesday. Those who feel comfortable at the intermediate level can still join in on either series! Click below for quick, easy registration.

Transfer Fair planned for September 28th

Northeast Texas Community College will host its annual transfer fair on Thursday, Sept. 28th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building. The event will bring representatives from more than 25 universities to campus to meet with prospective transfer students. 

"This is a great opportunity for NTCC students to meet with lots of universities at one time. Anyone who is planning to continue their education beyond NTCC should definitely make an effort to attend," Sheila Eddy, Associate Director of Academic Advising, said.

Five complete CDL training

The Northeast Texas Community College Professional Driving Academy continues to grow and supply high-demand CDL drivers to the local area. Five new students recently graduated from the program. Information session planned for Boston travel study trip

Have you been bitten by the travel bug? Northeast Texas Community College is planning an exciting travel study trip to Boston next year from May 18-22. This is a great opportunity to explore one of the nation's most historic, iconic cities while earning college credit. An informational session is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 26th at 12:30 p.m. in Humanities 107. Anyone who has an interest in the trip is encouraged to attend.
