Baseball opens season at home Friday

The opening of Eagles baseball season is scheduled to get off to a quick start this weekend as NTCC hosts Cedar Valley for a double-header Friday afternoon before the Eagles take on Hill College in another double-header Saturday.
The Eagles finished up the Spring 2012 season with a record of 33-17, including a 26-10 mark in the tough Texas Eastern Athletic Conference, and NTCC will be looking to put together another great season in 2013.

?We have a whole lot of new faces around here but we are expecting the same kind of results from this team as we did last year,?

Eagles Softball opens season Saturday

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles softball team will be looking to kick off the season with a pair of wins Saturday as they host Hill College for a double-header beginning at 1 p.m.

Led by new head coach Jessica Keith, the Eagles will be looking to turn heads in 2013.

?I believe we have the players that we need to put together a good season this year,? Keith said about her 2013 squad.

Eagles softball to host open tryout

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Softball program will host an open tryout and evaluation day on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at the NTCC softball field. The event is open to girls who will graduate from high school in 2013 or 2014. This evaluation will give athletes a chance to showcase their skills in hitting, fielding, throwing, base running, catching, and pitching. All athletes should plan to bring a glove, bat, batting helmet, and cleats. Catchers will need to bring their own personal catching gear. Softball pants are recommended.

NTCC 23rd Annual Rodeo

The Northeast Texas Community College 23rd annual rodeo wrapped up Saturday afternoon at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Arena. The NTCC women?s team took second place and the men finished fourth.

NTCC athletes were up against around 300 competitors from other colleges and universities in the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA)

Wacey Hathcock won the saddle bronc riding and Slatyr Hunnicut finished third in the same event.

NTCC wins honors for marketing and public relations

This NTCC baseball photo, taken by Jeremy Weber, received a gold medal in the Original Photography category in the 2012 NCMPR District 4 Medallion Awards. It was one of five awards NTCC took home.

Eagles soccer fights their way to 3-3 record

The Eagles? men?s soccer team has jumped out to a 3-3 record this season despite battling nationally-ranked opponents and injuries to key personnel.

After opening the season with a 2-1 win at Ranger, the Eagles were on the road for a conference matchup in their second game as they faced Coastal Bend College in Beeville Sept. 7.

† †Despite having to deal with bus trouble during the long drive to Beeville, the Eagles were able to come away with a 2-0 victory for their second win of the season.

NTCC Baseball wins 3 of 4 at opening tourney

The NTCC Eagles baseball team went 3-1 to open the Fall 2012 season this weekend as they played host to a tournament at Bob Baker Field.

The Eagles split Friday?s two games as NTCC downed Bossier Parish 7-0 in the day?s early game before dropping the nightcap to Weatherford, 1-0.

NTCC bounced back with a pair of wins Saturday as the Eagles beat Weatherford 12-3 before earning a 12-9 victory over Grayson College.

Former Eagles named top baseball prospects

Two former Northeast Texas Community College Eagle baseball players earned high praise this summer as Shane Segovia (Missouri) and Mark Robinette (Oklahoma State) were named to Perfectgame.org?s Top Summer League Baseball Prospect List.
Segovia and Robinette both played with the St. Joseph Mustangs this summer, the winner of the MINK (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas) college summer baseball league.
Segovia was named the League?s No. 2 prospect after hitting .331 with 21 RBI and 13 walks while Robinette was named the league?s No.

Eagles Soccer kicks off season with men's win, women's loss

A late-game goal was the difference for the Eagles Tuesday as Northeast Texas Community College opened the fall 2012 season with a road win at Ranger College.

Tied 1-1 in the final minutes of the contest, the Eagles? Miguel Almazan scored from short distance with less that five minutes to play in what would turn out to be a 2-1 NTCC victory.

?We played a strong game with high pressure and good intensity and it was enough to get us a win,? Eagles? assistant coach Desmond Barron said.
