Northeast Texas Community College recently received a JET (Job and Education for Texans) 5 grant from the Texas State Comptroller's Office for $202,785. These funds will††will allow NTCC to purchase software for its†health programs, computers for each of its 12 dental hygiene operatories, new digital x-ray equipment, electronic dental record software, intraoral cameras and a panoramic digital x-ray system†. Due to soggy field conditions, the Region† XIV Baseball Tournament has been pushed back until 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Game 7 (San Jacinto vs. Navarro) will be played at 5 p.m. and game 8 (Blinn vs. Galveston) will be played at 8 p.m.

Games 9-12 will be played on Wednesday and 13 and 14 on Thursday. The championship game will be played on Friday if necessary.

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles baseball season came to an end Monday afternoon as the team lost 9-1 to Texarkana College in game six of the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament. The game ended after eight innings due to the NJCAA run rule.

?This is a tough loss for us. We?ve gone back and forth with Texarkana throughout the season. Today, they just had our number,?

Day two of the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament started off with another close game on Monday as Alvin Community College beat Paris Junior College 8-7 in extra innings.

The loss eliminated Paris from the tournament and sent Alvin on to see day three. The Dolphins will face the loser of game eight ? which will either be Galveston or Blinn.

Alvin got on the board early, scoring one in the bottom of the first.

The NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament continued with its pattern of long, extra-inning ballgames on Wednesday night as San Jacinto College beat Galveston College 6-5 in 16 innings.

San Jacinto remains the only undefeated team in the tournament. Galveston will play Navarro at 1 p.m. on Thursday (game 13) in order to try to earn the chance for a re-match with San Jacinto at 5 p.

San Jacinto started off strong, putting three runs on the board in the bottom of the first.

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles fell 7-6 to the Galveston College Whitecaps Sunday night in game four of the Region XIV Tournament.

The game was late getting started and continued on into Monday morning after game three went 13 innings. Despite being the higher seed, NTCC was unable to combat Galveston?s strong hitting.

?We didn?t get big hits when we needed to and Galveston did.

Baseball fans got their money?s worth in game three of the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament as San Jacinto College narrowly beat Paris Junior College 5-4 after 13 innings of play.

San Jacinto and Paris traded runs in the first inning, putting the score at 1-1. No runs were scored through the second to the top of the fourth.

The Blinn Buccaneers earned a place in the winner?s bracket Sunday afternoon as they came from behind to beat Texarkana College 11-6 in game two of the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament at Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant.

Texarkana jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second. Texarkana added another two in the third and one more in the top of the fourth.

After being delayed for a day due to rain, the NJCAA Region XIV Baseball Tournament kicked off on Sunday morning at Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant. Navarro College defeated Alvin Community College 5-0 in the first match up.

Navarro?s Chad Young pitched nine innings for the win, allowing no runs on four hits and an impressive 13 strikeouts.

Navarro?s offense was led by Brode Boyd?s hitting. He went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run.
