Michael Martin Murphey will perform his beloved Cowboy Christmas show at The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College on Monday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. 

Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. Seats can be purchased online at www.whatleycenter.com or by calling the box office at 903-434-8181. The show, sponsored by Cypress Bank, is included in season ticket packages.

NTCC was well-represented at a career and college fair held in Gilmer this week. More than 500 seniors from all Upshur County high schools attended. NTCC had booths from Continuing Education, Professional Driving Academy, Work4College, Medical Assistant, Shelby Automotive, Health Sciences and Student Services/Recruiting.

The NTCC Theatre Program is excited to announce our upcoming production of A 1940s Christmas Carol. This play will be at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on December 2, 3, and 4^th. Evening shows are at 7:30 and there is also a matinee on December 4^th at 2:30 pm. The play is about an hour long, family friendly, and a wonderful way to usher in the holiday season.

Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to premiere its new promotional video! Quilts created by local quilters are on display in the Whatley Center foyer in what is now an annual tradition for the NTCC art department.  For the fifth year, quilters bring their treasured art to share with the community. The exhibit runs from Friday, Nov. 12th through Wednesday, Dec. 1st. A reception is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 17th at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer, and refreshments will be served.  

The NTCC Webb Society, comprised mainly of students of Honors Northeast, presented their seventh trailer of an upcoming film at a fall meeting of the State Walter Prescott Webb Society, 15 October.   The trailer and coming film are entitled, “Pedal to the Metal:  The Life of Carroll Hall Shelby.”  The group is working to premiere this spring, the first feature-length film on the life of the preeminent promoter of the American muscle car, Carroll Hall Shelby.

Next Tuesday, Nov. 16, the NTCC Marketing Department is hosting a photography event in the SUB from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A professional photographer will take still shots that will be used for various advertising campaigns and promotions to help tell the NTCC story.

The Northeast Texas Community College Fire Academy is now recruiting for its 20th Academy. The Academy started in 2002 and has trained numerous individuals in fire service. The NTCC Fire Academy prepares trainees for a career as a firefighter. The academy is an authorized training facility for structural firefighting under Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP - FDID #107). Trainees who successfully complete the academy will be eligible for the certification exam given by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
