Honors Northeast, the honors program of Northeast Texas Community College announces a call for poems and images that can accent or enliven our sense of the surroundings, people, the culture, and/or the history of Northeast Texas.

Adult poetry winners will take home $100 and $50 for first and second place. Full-time student poetry winners for first, second, third, and fourth places will receive $400, $300, $200 and $100 respectively (last year's winner, Mercedes Collins, is pictured above). For images, first place will earn $70, second, $20, and third, $10.  Anyone of any age is welcome to enter the contest.  Any genre of poem, and at any length, can compete.

farm market

The Work4College farm crew has been working hard to safely care for our facility, animals and plants!  They will continue their drive-thru lunch and farmer's market for the next two Thursdays (July 30 and August 6). The crew would love to have you stop by and check out their offerings from 10 am to 2 pm. The lunch menu is TBD. Produce, canned items, eggs, and plants available at the market.

In light of rising cases of COVID-19 in the area and in compliance with the latest orders from Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Northeast Texas Community College has made the decision to cancel the in-person summer graduation ceremony originally planned for August 14.

Denney

Christi Denney recently presented the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with $2,000 to support the Nita DeWoody Memorial Scholarship fund. The money was raised through the Jingle Bell Jog (5K) held last December in Pittsburg, which Denney organized in memory of her late sister, DeWoody.

I would like to take a minute to make you aware of our Eagle Food Pantry located at the Wesley Fellowship building. This program is set up by the Social Work Program to help meet any food insecurity needs of all our currently enrolled NTCC students and their families.
