NTCC ranked among top 10 Texas community colleges
† † †Northeast Texas Community College learned last week that it has been named one of the top ten community colleges in Texas by the website schools.com. NTCC was ranked number eight on the list, which cited †the college's low student-to-faculty ratio, on-campus housing and availability of an on-campus bachelor's degree partnership with Texas A&M-Texarakana as factors that set it apart from other schools.
† † †NTCC was the only east Texas school included on the list.
NTCC active shooter drill planned for Friday
Northeast Texas Community College, in cooperation with local emergency officials, will host an active shooter drill Friday, June 19 from 8:30 am. until early afternoon on the main NTCC campus. The purpose of the event is to simulate a real-life emergency in order to train both college personnel and first responders.
In addition to the NTCC campus, Chapel Hill ISD facilities will be used as a staging area during the exercise.
Hanson-Sewell Center offers summer kids camps
Looking for something for the kids to do this summer? The Northeast Texas Community College Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg will offer several fun learning opportunities this summer for†kids ages 10 and up.
The first option is Keyboarding/typing. This introduction to the fundamentals of typing runs June 23 through July 9 and meets every†Tuesday†and†Thursday†from 11 a.m.†to 12:30 p.m. The course will teach kids proper keyboarding technique and will help them improve their speed and accuracy.

Fast Track Fire Academy accepting applications
† † Northeast Texas Community College is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its new Fast Track Firefighter Academy. The first class begins July 1 and runs through December 19. Students will meet†Monday†throughThursday†evenings at the Central Fire Station in Mount Pleasant and alternating Saturdays.†
Medical Assisting program extends application deadline
The Medical Assistant program at NTCC has expanded their program admission deadline. The Medical Assistant Program is a 24-month curriculum designed to prepare individuals to perform the duties of a medical assistant who functions in an acute care clinical setting or physician?s office in the areas of medical office administration, clinical lab procedures, and examining room assisting. Upon completion of the program the graduate will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree.

Police Academy accepting applications for fall
The Northeast Police Academy at Northeast Texas Community College is now accepting applications for both day and evening academy options that begin this fall. Both programs will be held in the state-of-the-art criminal justice facility on the main NTCC campus.
First class completes fast track office tech certificate
The first class of students recently completed Northeast Texas Community College?s new fast track office skills certificate program that began this spring. This 21 classroom hour course is designed to help individuals cultivate the skills necessary to seek entry-level work in an office setting. Topics covered include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, business etiquette and more.
