Theatre Northeast, the student theatre group of Northeast Texas Community College, will host†An Evening with Thornton Wilder†March 1-4 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. March 1-3 and a 2:05 p.m. matinee will be held on March 4.

Dr. Ron Clinton?s piano concert that was scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 18 has been cancelled. Please contact the Whatley Center Box Office at 903-434-8181 if you have questions about previously-purchased tickets for this event.

The†Northeast Texas Community College Eagles†baseball team beat Weatherford College 11-9 Wednesday in an away game. The Eagles managed through an early push by Weatherford in the first inning where NTCC coughed up six runs, but came back to win 11-9.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game.†NTCC†collected 15 hits and Weatherford College had eight.

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Baseball team split a double header with Hutchinson on Thursday. The Eagles won game one 7-1 and dropped the second game 9-7.

In the opener, the eagles had a big third inning which propelled them to the win.

The NTCC Continuing Education Department is planning a spring travel course to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens and the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum on Thursday, April 5.

Honors Northeast, the honors program at Northeast Texas Community College, is currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year.

Nothing prepared Christi Denney for the loss of her beloved sister, Nita DeWoody, in October 2016. However, In the midst of her grief, Denney became determined to do something good to carry on her sister?s memory. With that goal in mind, she organized a charity 5K race that was held in October 2017 in Pittsburg.

The Northeast Texas Community College Agriculture Department will host a Muscadine Workshop Friday, Feb. 16 at the NTCC Ag Complex. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon under the instruction of Master Gardener Rhonda Lesher.

Lesher is a Master Gardener with the Cypress Basin Master Gardeners, where she has partnered with Texas A&M University in the Earth Kind trials for Mucadines and other grape vines for Northeast Texas.

The Northeast Texas Community College Speech and Debate Club will host an open candidate forum for the Democratic candidates for United States House of Representatives District 4 on Monday, Feb. 12 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The forum will include Catherine Krantz from Rains County and Lander Bethel from Sherman. Krantz and Bethel are the only Democrats facing off in the March 6 Democratic Primary.
