The Human Resources Specialist serves as the initial point of information for staff. Duties
will include application tracking, interview scheduling, and reporting functions of the college ensuring efficient and effective service to the faculty, staff, and students in all such related activities. They will assist with the Work4College initiative.
Description of Job Duties:
- Serve as the central hub for HR operations, including supporting the Director of HR in recruitment, onboarding, and providing support to employee inquiries
- Maintain information on the NTCC Portal
- Keep online employee directory updated
- Process bi-weekly Work4College payroll
- Assist with Work4College orientation
- Assist in maintaining required HR files such as personnel, payroll, official transcripts, DPS, and I-9 files
- Onboarding and employee support, including performing background checks, and assisting new hires in completion of required documentation
- Complete VOEs and Service Record requests
- Update and issue quarterly Human Resources Department Newsletter
- Maintains Work4College employee data in human resources information systems
- Assists with employee related events such as, annual holiday lunch and service award presentations
- Coordinate applicant tracking system regarding posting job openings to NTCC website,
tracking employment applications and Work4College applicants, coordinate interview scheduling, and candidate communications - Assist with auditing payroll reports for accuracy before payroll is disbursed
- Maintain official transcripts
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll, benefits, personnel, and employment information
- Generate and track purchase orders for the HR Department, and order supplies as
needed - Provide support for HR projects and initiatives as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Experience and Other Qualifications Required:
- Associate’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Human Resources preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written is required
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a complex, fast-paced environment with the
requirement to manage multiple projects - Detail-oriented
- Proficient in computer skills
- Software knowledge – Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Works independently but also able to work as a team
- Works closely and cooperatively with faculty and staff
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required
- Strategic, creative, and highly analytical
