No. You can begin using your scholarship credits in the first semester you enroll AFTER completing the program.

Yes, you can begin using the scholarship credits you earn immediately after the summer you participate in the program.

If I am unable to use my scholarship credits can I transfer them to a family member or someone else?
No. These scholarship credits can only be used by the person who earned them and they can only be used toward tuition, fees, and books.

When can I begin using the scholarship credits?
You can use up to 50% of your credits the fall semester after completing the program. The remaining funds can be used for following semesters.

How does the scholarship credit work?
You earn one credit for every dollar earned in the program. For example, if you make $1,000 you will have $1,000 worth of scholarship credits.

Last April, I was driving down the new loop on my way home from work (FM 4000) when I saw a girl standing next to a bicycle stranded on the side of the road. I turned around to go back and check on her because I thought she looked familiar. When I got back to her, her dad had just pulled up in a van and they were loading the bike……she waived me on and told me everything was good. This past week I saw the same bicycle on campus, I pulled “Vasti” out of her Work Scholarship duties for a little while to see if that was her bike.

I was not sure if I would be comfortable tutoring students who, in many cases, were the same age as my mom. However, once I got started I realized this was something I love. God gave me a gift of understanding math and science, and I feel blessed to be in the Work Scholarship Program where I have an opportunity of giving back.
