For the 38th time, thanks to honors donors, NTCC honors students were able to take a free, day-trip to a big city—in this case, Fort Worth. Eleven honors students, honors director, Dr. Andrew Yox, and Cade Bennett, NTCC Honors Coordinator, left campus at 7:15 a.m., 25 September in two vans. They enjoyed a whirlwind experience that began with free breakfasts at Starbucks in Greenville, and ended with the Fort Worth Symphony playing a rousing concert of Brahms and Hayden. The itinerary also included a maze competition in the stockyards district, the Kimbel and Amon Carter art galleries, and a visit to the Sundance Square area. Each student received a generous per diem as well as a cultural experience stipend to spend on meals or experiences as they saw fit for the trip.
Honors Northeast is now accepting applications for the spring semester as well as next year. 1 March is the deadline for obtaining an optimal scholarship for the 2026-2027 year. The program confers institutional and private scholarships, as well as many other amenities. Talented public high school students, high school seniors, homeschoolers in transition, parents, and students with less than 30 hours at NTCC are welcome to contact Dr. Andrew P. Yox, Honors Director, at ayox@ntcc.edu, and/or apply through the honors website: www.ntcc.edu/honors.
