Northeast Texas Community College welcomed an estimated 800-1,000 visitors to campus Saturday, Oct. 24, for the annual Scare Affair Halloween celebration.
The event brought together NTCC students, employees and community members for an evening of costumes, games, activities, food and plenty of Halloween candy. Approximately 15 NTCC student clubs, organizations and departments participated by hosting booths and activities throughout the evening.
“Scare Affair is one of our favorite opportunities to welcome the community to campus and let our students be part of creating a fun evening for local families,” said JaQuacy Minter, NTCC Director of Student Development. “We’re grateful to everyone who came out and helped make the evening possible.”
The annual costume contest was once again a highlight of the evening, with prizes awarded in three age divisions. This year’s winners were Kota Justin (child of Baxter Justin) in the kids category, Sabrina Otero-Svirska in the teen category and Roger McKay in the adult category.
Scare Affair has become an annual NTCC tradition designed to provide a family-friendly Halloween event for the community while giving students an opportunity to get involved, work together and connect with local families.
Student organizations also use the event as a fundraiser to support club activities and programming throughout the year. Participating organizations raised approximately $9,643.50 during this year’s event.
NTCC thanks the students, faculty, staff and volunteers who contributed their time to Scare Affair, as well as the hundreds of community members who spent their Saturday evening on campus.
