The NTCC Rodeo team recently welcomed competitors to Mount Pleasant for a successful Eagle Rodeo Week, featuring several days of competition and activities and strong performances by Eagle athletes.
The rodeo began Thursday and continued through Saturday afternoon, concluding with the championship round. Several NTCC competitors advanced to the finals and earned points as the Eagles continue their season.
In steer wrestling, Blake Branquinho finished fourth in the long round and eighth overall. The team roping duo of Blaine Coats and Caden Albertson placed fourth in the long round and sixth overall. Laci Murray represented the Lady Eagles in barrel racing, tying for fourth/fifth in both the championship round and overall standings.
NTCC Rodeo expressed appreciation to the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association for partnering with the college to host the event and providing the facilities and support needed throughout the week. The program also thanked Priefert Manufacturing for its continued support of Eagle Rodeo.
Several members of the NTCC community also helped make the event possible, including Justin Hargrove and the NTCC Sports Medicine team, who were on site throughout the rodeo. NTCC faculty member Chad Henry served as arena director and assisted with arena operations.
The Eagles will return to competition Oct. 30-31 when they travel to Lake Charles, Louisiana, for the McNeese State University Rodeo.
