When most people think about Northeast Texas Community College, they think about students earning degrees and job skills. But a recent economic impact study shows NTCC also plays a big role in the local economy.
According to the study, NTCC generated $46.2 million in economic activity during the 2023-24 fiscal year and supported 1,082 jobs across Camp, Morris, and Titus counties. That's equal to one out of every 33 jobs in the region.
Those jobs aren't just on campus. They include nurses caring for patients, first responders serving their communities, welders and mechanics keeping local industries running, teachers educating the next generation, and many other professionals who received training at NTCC. The college's employees, students, and graduates all contribute to the local economy by working, shopping, dining, and supporting businesses throughout the region.
"People often think of NTCC as a place where students come to learn, and that's certainly true," said Dr. Jon McCullough, Executive Vice President for Advancement. "But this study shows the college is also helping power our local economy. The success of our students creates benefits that reach far beyond the classroom."
