There’s still time to start training for a new career this fall. Northeast Texas Community College is enrolling students in its Plumber Pre-Apprentice Program, which begins Sept. 8, and financial assistance of up to $2,500 may be available for qualified students.
The 14-week evening program meets Tuesday through Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. through Dec. 10. Students will gain foundational plumbing knowledge and hands-on experience with essential tools, safety practices, plumbing systems and industry fundamentals. Tuition is $3,000, but available financial assistance could significantly reduce the out-of-pocket cost for qualified students.
The program prepares graduates to seek employment with a licensed plumbing contractor as a registered apprentice, where they can earn a paycheck while gaining experience and working toward journeyman licensure.
With skilled trades in high demand across Texas, plumbing offers opportunities for stable employment, career advancement and eventually becoming a master plumber or business owner.
Classes begin Sept. 8 and space is limited. Those interested are encouraged to contact NTCC soon to learn about financial assistance and secure their spot.
