The current issue provides a summary of student success stories at NTCC in honors last spring and during the summer of 2026: the attainments of NTCC’s two national-award winners, José Fuentes, and Stephanie Hernandez, the unprecedented wins on the state level in Texas history, the remarkable triumphs of Gladys Winkle Scholar, Emma Mendoza, continuing initiatives in biology, and news of local award winners of the Chitsey, Eckman, and poster awards The newsletter also contains tributes to recent honors donors, who have enabled a special group dynamic, discussed here as as a product of ‘synergism’. There is also a section on the record of the 2024-2026 honors cohort, a section on “alacritous alumni”—the update on seven former members of Honors Northeast, commentary by the honors director, Dr. Andrew Yox, and a tribute to Dr. Jerry Wesson, a long-term friend of Honors Northeast.
