The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles will look to keep their season alive Friday night after falling to Blinn College 10-3 in Game 1 of the NJCAA Super Regional on Thursday in Waco.

Blinn jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning and continued to add pressure throughout the night. The Buccaneers collected 13 hits in the contest, including a four-RBI performance from Dane Perry and three RBI from Reece Lunsford.

Despite the final score, the Eagles continued to battle and showed signs of life late in the game. NTCC broke through with three runs in the seventh inning behind RBI hits from Cameron Reiter, BJ Lumkins, and Jake Farris.

Boston Seahorn and David Sorg each recorded two hits for the Eagles, while Cameron Reiter and BJ Lumkins also added multi-hit performances.

NTCC used four pitchers in the game, with Cooper Schwank getting the start. Tanner Webb, Sam Durard, and Barrett Hamilton also saw action on the mound.

Now facing elimination, the Eagles will return to the field Friday night for Game 2 of the Super Regional series. First pitch against Blinn College is set for 6 p.m. at McLennan Community College in Waco. A win would force a deciding Game 3 on Saturday with a trip to the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series on the line.

The Eagles have already proven throughout the postseason that they know how to respond with their backs against the wall, battling through multiple elimination games to capture the Region XIV North Tournament Championship last weekend. NTCC will look to bring that same fight into Friday night’s matchup.
