Jerilyn Goolsby is in her sixteenth year with Mount Pleasant ISD and has served as a counselor at Mount Pleasant High School for the past nine years. She grew up in Talco, Texas, and graduated from Rivercrest High School in 1991. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from East Texas State University and later completed her Master of Education in School Counseling from Texas A&M–Commerce.
Jerilyn’s path into education began early. Encouraged by her mother, she took her first college class in 1990 at Northeast Texas Community College while still in high school. Coming from a small school, she found NTCC to be the perfect balance of challenge and support. After high school, she continued at NTCC for a year before transferring to Texas Tech University and then to East Texas State. Even while attending Tech and East Texas State, she continued taking courses through NTCC — just as her two children would later do during their own college journeys.
Jerilyn is grateful for the strong foundation NTCC gave her and is excited to partner with them in her current role. She enjoys supporting dual enrollment and other programs and loves seeing high school students succeed after getting their start at NTCC. "
