Each year, the HACU government relations staff works with members of Congress to recognize the contributions of Hispanic-Serving Institutions in their communities.
According to the most recent analysis of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) enrollment data by HACU from the 2020-21 academic year, 18% of all institutions of higher education (559 HSIs) enrolled 66% of all Latino undergraduates. HSIs represent less than 20% of institutions but enroll two-thirds of all Latino undergraduates.
HACU-member HSIs are encouraged to observe the week with campus activities to heighten awareness of the important role HSIs play in improving access to education and advancing equity for traditionally underserved students.
