NTCC hosts first senior adult conference

The NTCC Continuing Education and Corporate Training held the first senior adult conference on Friday, Aug. 20 and had 37 attendees from the community. The conference started off with a welcome from Dr. Jon McCullough, Executive Vice President of Advancement at NTCC. 

The first keynote was a lesson on humor, “Stay on the Funny Side of Life” with Jerry Buck French from Pittsburg, Texas.  The second keynote was Chris Parker, attorney at law, from Ross & Shoalmire law firm that specializes in elder law.  Mr. Parker addressed common legal problems concerning seniors.

There were breakout sessions with Chief Matt Lemarr of Pittsburg police department that presented “Scams and Seniors” and Elise Webb-Moore, Vice President of Compliance from NETCU made a presentation on safe banking online. 

The last activity of the day was a panel of experts that answered questions from the audience about a variety of topics.  There was Elise Webb-Moore for banking, Dr. Tonya Youngblood, Chief of Medical Staff at UT Health, Pittsburg; Chief Matt Lemarr from Pittsburg police department, Lisa Reeve with the Area Agency on Aging responding to questions on local services, and Sebastian Barron from NTCC answering general technology questions.
